Internships at the Children’s Museum at La Habra are geared towards college students and recent graduates who are interested in playing a direct role in inspiring today’s youth to learn in a hands-on environment. Our internships are typically offered in the fall, spring and summer and we accept applications year round. All applicants should be organized, self motivated, and have excellent people skills. All internship positions are on a voluntary basis only.
Specific Responsibilities
• Assist the Program Director with planning, creating, and preparing our Museum family programming and special events
• Assist the Outreach Coordinator with planning and preparing upcoming special events and community booth events
• Research, coordinate and prepare a Museum marketing video
• Research free marketing opportunities for non-profits. This includes free e-blasts, free ad space, free internet marketing, free radio bits, free television marketing, etc.
• Update and maintain all internet information about the Children’s Museum including the Museum’s website, Facebook, and Twitter
• Create and proof read press releases and media alerts
• Research and plan for our Hispanic population which includes writing Spanish material for our website, delivering bilingual visitor surveys, compiling Hispanic research, and assisting with Hispanic event planning and marketing
requirements:
Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 8 weeks, 8-16 hours per week depending on the position. Preferred days of internship are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but schedule is flexible. Knowledge of Powerpoint, Quark and Photoshop a plus. Ability to speak, read and write Spanish a plus.
