As a member of the Arts Program (AP) team, the Arts Coordinator reports to the Arts Program Director who sets and prioritizes the Consultant’s work assignments, regularly evaluates job performance and shares such information with the Chief Operating Officer.

The Coordinator will work 40 hours weekly to perform the following duties and others as assigned: assisting the AP Director in screening and identifying new AP artist educators and partner organizations; guiding the development and submission of residency goals, curriculum descriptions, sample lesson plans, culminating events, and artist bios consistent with the established AP format; coordinating the site selection process with the arts service provider, Travelling Staff, Site Coordinators, and school principals to assure interest in the proposed residency and optimal conditions (assignment of appropriate classrooms, auditoriums, multipurpose rooms, secure outdoor areas, etc.), access to water, restrooms, etc.; planning and coordinating the artists’ motivational introductory presentations to students; processing AP invoices and orders through the department invoicing and order database; assuring compliance with AP guidelines for student selection, parent support, class size, regular attendance, etc.; assisting with the selection and training of AP part-time staff troubleshooting to identify and resolve operational problems in collaboration with Travelling Staff, Site Coordinators, and school personnel; assisting with culminating events as needed; regularly observing and reporting on residency activities, issues, challenges, and successes to the AP Director; collecting and updating logistical AP residency information regarding attendance, observation notes, residency schedules, residency costs, etc.; support compliance with AP Evaluation Plan requirements; serve as AP point person for AP and self-funded AP partner organizations assist the AP Director by providing leadership and administrative oversight as described in #1 – 13 above of AP residencies, related programs and provide additional support as needed.

Public Programs Coordinator - CA Science Center

Public Programs Coordinator

The Public Programs Coordinator is part of the program team responsible for the delivery and development of high quality, innovative and interactive programs and demonstrations for school groups, workshop attendees, members, and the general public. The Public Programs Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of operational procedures for field trip programs, floor demonstrations, and special events. The Coordinator further is responsible for the supervision and development of programs staff including participating in training and evaluation.

Major Job Responsibilities:

* Deliver interactive educational programs in Big Lab workshops and large scale floor programs of the California Science Center for reserved groups, members, and the general public
* Establish and coordinate logistics and procedures for field trip programs, demonstrations, home school programs, and some special event programs
* Oversee research and develop of programs and materials related to a wide assortment of science concepts, including those topics covered in existing and future permanent and temporary exhibits of the Science Center
* Supervise and monitor staff and volunteers developing and delivering programs to Science Center visitors and other program participants

Outreach Actor - CA Science Center


The Actor is the team member responsible for delivering high-quality, interactive outreach performance programs for school groups and general audiences in the greater Los Angeles area as part of Science on Tour outreach program. These are part-time positions that may include weekend, holiday and/or evening hours. While focused on the greater Los Angeles area the program does frequently travel throughout Southern California and occasionally may make longer week-long road trips throughout the year. Programs include the Desert Dome, an interactive presentation that combines technology with interactive learning to help teach students about the desert ecosystem and SuperKids Academy a high-energy health program with puppets and props.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities
Working closely with the Director, Membership and Visitor Services, the Membership Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include processing membership renewals, increasing memberships, and coordinating annual giving appeal projects.

Specific functions include monitoring the membership and annual-giving appeal calendar, drafting and managing solicitation mailings, coordinating telemarketing efforts, assisting with the online renewal process, and coordinating member events.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a related field, two to four years of experience in fundraising and/or similar membership activities, time management and multitasking skills, demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with event planning, and demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office. Teacher Naturalist - Debs park, Highland Park, LA

Position Summary:

The Teacher Naturalist will assist with the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of all aspects of dynamic, interactive educational programming for primary and secondary school groups who visit the Audubon Center at Debs Park. A large part of this position will focus on working with the Arroyo Green Team, our program for teens, on conservation projects in the park. This position will oversee and facilitate our spring and summer day camp programs, including managing interns. This position is also responsible for assisting with outreach to the local community.
Essential Functions:

* Facilitate and evaluate existing standards-based school programming for local elementary and secondary schools. These programs include school field trips, multiple visits by school groups, and after-school programming.
* Provide educational program support including scheduling of school visits, documentation of groups, promotion, phone calls, etc.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate program for local teens focused on conservation action in Debs Park. This includes recruitment.

LA County Arts Commission - Civic Art Collections Manager

Reporting to the Director of Civic Art and working as a member of a team, the Civic Art Collections Manager plays a vital role in the County as the keeper of all County artwork records and the lead on all issues relating to artwork maintenance, conservation, and research. The Collections Manager will animate a growing civic art collection and develop new outreach strategies.

In 2004, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the County's first Civic Art Policy which allocates one percent of design and construction costs on new County capital projects to a Civic Art Special Fund. The Los Angeles County Arts Commission’s Civic Art Program works with County departments to identify, inventory, maintain, illuminate and conserve the County’s art collection as well as create a comprehensive inventory of County-owned art. Los Angeles County covers more than 4,000 square miles, ranging from mountains to beaches, and encompasses 88 cities and 137 unincorporated areas.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintenance and conservation
o Assess artworks and create condition reports
o Provide artwork maintenance information to County departments
o Manage art restoration projects
o Maintain and forge new relationships with County employees who are responsible for asset and facility maintenance
o Staff and build the Interagency Artwork Maintenance Task Force (with representatives from County departments who are concerned with artwork maintenance)
o Pursue grant funding for restoration projects

• Education and outreach
o Work with County departments, communities and schools to build curriculum around civic artworks
o Create plans for activities and events around civic artworks and the maintenance and restoration process (lectures, workshops, tours, artist interventions, performance, restoration demonstrations)
o Create informational material for distribution at the artwork site
o Develop innovative methods of distributing collection information particularly via the Internet

• Research and Documentation
o Seek out County artworks previously unknown to the Civic Art Program
o Research County artworks and artists
o Interview artists for promotion, documentation and preservation purposes
o Create and implement an evaluation tool for measuring the success of newly commissioned artworks
o Manage an online archive of searchable information about County artworks
o Write artwork reports and Web pages about the collection as needed
o Maintain artwork records (hard file archives, electronic files, and collection database)
o Manage reproduction requests for images of artwork in the County’s Collection

Qualifications: Candidates should have a minimum of two years experience in a responsible, collections management role. The successful candidate will have wide knowledge of public art and contemporary visual arts; proven top-notch organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; advanced knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, Picture Manager and Excel; and ability to utilize computer-based research tools. A BA is required in visual arts, museum studies, library science or a related field, and a relevant advanced degree is desirable.

This is a full-time position with salary commensurate with experience.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking an Administrator for William S. Hart Museum in Newhall, CA. The Position is responsible for providing overall management and supervision of the daily functions at Hart Museum, including all Hart programming, staff, volunteers, budget development and management, and facility management. A key element of the position is to maintain excellent public relations among the other parts of the Natural History Museum, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, Friends of Hart Park and the surrounding Santa Clarita Valley community. This position has the following requirements:

- Bachelor’s of Arts or Sciences Degree required with a Masters of Arts or Sciences Degree preferred in Education, Museum Studies, or History.

- 3 or more years experience as a seasoned manager and supervisor of staff and volunteers in either formal or informal education settings.
- Experience facilitating programs.
- Must be proficient in basic office computing and software such as MS Word, MS Excel, email and internet.
- Familiarity with budgeting tools desirable.

As an integral part of the Education and Visitor Services department, Museum Assistants perform a wide-variety of duties related to Museum operations, customer service, and educational programs that support the Museum’s mission. Museum Assistants are both the public face of the Museum and vital to behind-the-scenes operations. They are often the first and the last person a visitor encounters. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·Perform daily gallery operations, including opening and closing procedures. The Museum is open to the public Thursday, 11AM to 8PM, and Friday through Sunday, 11AM to 5PM.

·Keep the Museum campus and artwork secure during open hours by guarding artwork, manning registers, and monitoring security cameras.

·Greet visitors, answer inquiries in person and on the phone, and sell admissions and memberships.

·Assist Education, Visitor Services, Development, Operations, and Administration in maintaining databases and records that relate to Museum operations and events.

·Process Membership renewals and payments.

·Assist with sales, inventory, and reports for the Museum Store.

·Lead tours and hands-on workshops for local K-12 students, youth groups, families, and adults as needed. Educational Tours and programs take place Tuesday through Sundays.

·Develop and assist in implementing educational materials and programs for the public and LBMA’s Docent Council, under the guidance of department supervisors.

·Work exhibition openings, fundraising events, and other Museum special events, as needed.

·Perform office duties related to Museum projects.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree preferably in Art Education, BFA or Art History, or working towards completion of an undergraduate degree with at least 1 year of prior employment in a non-profit, art, education, or customer service environment.

Ideal candidate will:

·Have excellent oral, written, computer, and customer service skills.

·Be punctual and responsible.

· Remain observant and alert over long periods of time and react quickly in an emergency.

Children's Museum at La Habra - PR/Family Programming Intern

The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit and place volunteers in appropriate positions, provide volunteer orientation and other training as assigned and will supervise volunteers working in the public areas of the museum. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day provision of information for volunteers using all media appropriate to the range of volunteers at the museum (from students to retirees, with a range of educational and cultural backgrounds).

Key Responsibilities for this position include:
•Recruits a diverse volunteer workforce responsive to the needs of the Museum and our visitors, establishing and developing appropriate institutional practices and relationships for effective volunteer recruitment with the widest possible reach.
•Processes volunteer applications and other paperwork and maintains volunteer files.
•Provides volunteer orientation and other training related to volunteer roles as assigned.
•Supervises volunteers on assigned days, for assigned events, activities and programs.
•Actively maintains and updates the information on the volunteer section of the NHM website.
•Serves, together with museum staff and selected volunteers, on the leadership team responsible for designing and developing the NHM’s expanded volunteer program.
•Collaborates with museum staff working with volunteers.
•Assists in developing and implementing volunteer recognition and retention program, including providing volunteers with unique experiences, continuing education and professional development.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to explore and present the history of the automobile and its impact on American life and culture using Los Angeles as the prime example. Located in the heart of Los Angeles ’ famed Miracle Mile district, the Petersen Automotive Museum is one of the world’s largest and most innovative automotive museums.

Position Summary:
The School & Tour Services Coordinator is responsible for managing the Museum’s programs and services for schools, teachers, and volunteers. The School & Tour Services Coordinator is also responsible for managing the public tour programs and managing and training volunteer docents.

Essential Functions:
* Manages all aspects of the planning, development, and administration of school and teacher programs, including school visits, teacher previews, professional development workshops and other services.
* Develops written and on-line curricular and school visit materials for the permanent collection and changing exhibitions.

* Coordinates the Museum’s tour programs that serve a wide range of audiences including schools, car clubs and other organized groups with administrative assistance from the Education Program Scheduling Assistant.
* Trains docents to lead tours in galleries.
* Manages the Museum’s volunteer program, including the recruitment, training, placement, retention, supervision and evaluation of volunteers.
* Serves as the primary liaison between the Museum staff and volunteers.
* Maintains and updates the policies and procedures of the volunteer program and provides volunteers with clear instructions and guidelines.
* Oversees volunteer meetings, fieldtrips, special events and projects including the annual volunteer appreciation dinner and monthly volunteer meetings.
* Assists the Education Manager in the development and implementation of on- and off-site educational programs, community outreach programs, as well as educational literature and publications.
* Assists the Education Manager in preparation of the annual budget for school and tour programs.
* Available to represent the Museum at off-site meetings.
* Performs administrative duties related to scheduling tours and volunteer shifts.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Sociology, or related field preferred.
* 2 years in a museum or informal education setting, or other relevant experience.
* 1 year experience managing or supervising volunteers or staff.
* Classroom or gallery teaching experience desired.
* Able to work varied hours including evenings or weekends depending on program needs.
* Outgoing, self-motivated person who enjoys working with volunteers and teachers.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to work as a member of a team.
* Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.

Bowers Museum: Sales Associate for Senior Audiences

The primary purpose of this position is to identify and sell museum programs (classes, tours and customized packages) to group tour organizations, senior centers, living communities and other senior markets, as appropriate. The Sales Associate will be responsible for increasing sales in senior classes, programs, admissions and membership by 25% each year. Sales initiatives include, but are not limited to establishing and maintaining productive relationships with senior organizations and enhancing underdeveloped opportunities within existing clientele.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Engage in proactive calling and out-of-office direct sales activity to establish productive sales relationships
• Target and reach out to senior centers, retirement communities and other senior venues in the region
• Analyze the effectiveness of current and new sales, methods, costs, and results
• Track and maintain existing, new, and prospective sales data
• Seek out and work with external sales and/or promotional partners (area restaurants, attractions, tour operators, cultural institutions, etc.) to reach and serve broader senior constituencies
• Collaborate with museum staff, volunteers and/or community partners to target a broader senior constituency who can deliver the museum’s marketing messages, while collaborating in sales initiatives
• Other duties as assigned
• Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS
