Manager, Outreach - Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County seeks a Manager, Outreach Programs to work with our Education & Exhibits department. This position reports to and works closely with Director, Programs and supervises the Project Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, Instructors and Drivers. The Manager, Outreach Programs is responsible for the oversight, planning, budget management, implementation and growth of all of the Museum's Gluck Outreach programs for LAUSD schools with an emphasis on the newly developed onsite field trip experience component.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of Outreach staff, budget management, grant reporting, and identifying program goals and projects for ongoing outreach programs such as the Earthmobile, Seamobile, and Skymobile in collaboration with School Visits onsite, NHM and Page. In addition, the position is responsible for all necessary hires, oversight of the database management, booking visits, website updates, scheduling, and teacher workshops.

This position requires excellent communication skills (both written and oral), independent initiative, experience with managing a team and supervising staff, active engagement with projects, pro-activity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

This position has the following requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Education, Biological Science, History, Anthropology or related field (required). Graduate degree or equivalent (preferred).
•2-3 years project management experience with educational programs (required).
•Must have prior museum, community or comparable experience at successively high levels of responsibility.
•Demonstrated success delivering school focused programs
•Computer proficiency, PC and MAC, Microsoft Office suite required
•Basic Proficiency with MS Project desired

Salary is commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full time, regular, exempt position.
