Manager, School & Teachers Programs, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Manager, Schools & Teacher Programs serves as a key member of the Programs Department (Education & Exhibits) team and works closely with colleagues throughout the Museum and within the Education and Exhibits Division to create dynamic school programs.
As Manager, School & Teachers Programs you will:

- Be responsible for the budgets, development, implementation and evaluation of the Museum’s school and teacher programs.
- Oversee all aspects of the museums programs involving pre-K through 12th grade, including onsite (NHM and Page Museum) and offsite (mobile museum) programs.
- Supervise the program managers responsible for onsite school visits and mobile museum.
- Coordinate closely with Managers of Informal Education, Volunteers, Live Animals and others responsible for the direct delivery of programs to deliver suite of experiences for all school groups.
- Develop strong relationships with area teachers and administrators, and work closely with museum interpretive staff to develop programs that provide schools programs and activities on relevant themes and curricula.
- Provide strong, creative leadership and vision for all aspects of school programs.

This position has the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a museum related academic field e.g. Biology, Geology, History, Anthropology (required). Graduate degree or equivalent (preferred).
- 2-3 years project management experience with educational programs (required). -Classroom experience as a K-12 educator (strongly preferred).
- Must have prior school, community related position or comparable experience at successively 5 or more years experience in education with proven success in program development and implementation.
-Experience with project and budget management, reporting/ analysis and scheduling projections.
-Excellent interpersonal & supervisory skills, strong organizational capabilities, effective supervisor, enthusiasm, flexibility.
- Ability to make key program decisions and foster a team environment to create dynamic school programming.
- Facility in a second language (especially Spanish) useful.
