Community Programs Supervisor - CA Science Center

The Community Programs Supervisor is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising youth participating in two different Teen Intern Programs. Other responsibilities includes: teaching science content, delivering programs, mentoring and providing support in workforce preparedness skills to youth participants.

Major Job Responsibilities:

* Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and schedules teens in the Intern Programs.
* Delivers training on science content for Ecosystems and other galleries.
* Delivers programming in educational areas of the Science Center.
* Assists in the development and delivery of trainings on informal education, workforce preparedness, and communication skills.
* Participates in the programs' growth and interaction with other Science Center entities.
* Assists in the tracking and management of program budgets.
* Monitors, purchases, and organizes program supplies.
* Participates in long-range strategic planning for department programs.
* Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in marine biology, education, or related field.
* 1+ year’s experience teaching in a formal setting or working with youth in a community-based organization or informal education institution.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience working with diverse audiences.
* Experience with curriculum development in an informal setting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer/Internet skills.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and some holidays.

Salary: $15.00 per hour plus excellent benefits
