Exhibition and Publicity Coordinator - Craft and Folk Art Museum

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates the planning
process for changing exhibitions, installations and other museum projects that
support the mission such as educational programming. Works closely with Public
Relations firm and media to develop short and long range communication
strategies to maximize press coverage of museum’s activities and programs.
Responds to general press inquires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of
Public Programs, works with curators and Executive Director to coordinate all
aspects of exhibitions presented by the museum; maintains exhibition master
calendar; keeps records of past exhibitions/installations; works on potential
exhibitions; obtains information for proposed exhibitions; responds to and
maintains records of offers/proposals; organizes Exhibition Planning Team
meetings; works on long-range exhibition planning issues. Generates and
monitors personal service contracts for consultants, contract curators and
other exhibition workers. Coordinates exhibition calendar with museum’s master
calendar. Maintains exhibition and programming financial records—prepares
purchase orders and monitors costs to insure all costs are within budget. Works
with Curators and Director to draft media advisories, press releases,
newsletters and other PR materials. Coordinates distribution and media outreach
with PR firm.



REQUIREMENTS

Excellent computer skills
including knowledge of Word, Excel, Illustrator and project management
programs. Articulate communicator and excellent writer. Should be highly
organized, resourceful, dedicated, deadline oriented and able to work in a
fast-paced environment. Ability to meet deadlines, work both collaboratively
and independently, be both flexible and highly organized. Interact with
curators, contractors, visitors, volunteers and staff in an effective and
friendly manner. Effectively motivate and coordinate volunteers. Exercise sound
and independent judgment and show appropriate levels of problem-solving.
Energetic, creative and friendly team member with a “can do” attitude and a
love of art & culture.

Program Associate - PS Arts

Temporary/Part-Time

Location: P.S. ARTS Offices, Los Angeles

POSITION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision by the Program Manager, the Program Associate provides administrative, evaluative, and logistical support for the Program department’s activities. This is a temporary part-time position with the possibility of growth into a permanent position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide administrative support for P.S. ARTS’ Program Team, including, but not limited to, maintaining calendar, coordinating meetings, managing faculty professional networking site, and ordering supplies
* Perform data entry and create reports for Director of Programming
* Shoot, archive, and edit video footage of programs
* Coordinate and maintain logistics including supply budgets, inventories and databases
* Process check requests and track expenditures to submit to Finance department
* Research arts education issues and current events, and contribute to department newsletter
* Archive images of student work, grant documentation, surveys and program video
* Other related projects and general office support as needed


QUALIFICATIONS

* Interest in and commitment to the P.S. ARTS mission
* Experience working in an arts education setting a plus
* Intermediate/Advanced Excel and other Office suite skills
* Some knowledge of data analysis and statistics a plus
* Familiarity with iMovie
* Ability to help develop arts education curriculum a plus
* An eye for filmmaking and video editing skills a plus
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to work cooperatively
* Meticulous attention to detail
* Comfortable with Apple operating systems
* Creative problem solver and self-directed
* Strong editing skills helpful
* English/Spanish bilingual a plus
* BA or BS degree

Skirball Cultural Center- Associate Director of Education

The Skirball Cultural Center (SCC) of Los Angeles seeks an Associate Director of Education . As a dynamic Jewish cultural institution devoted to exploring connections across cultures and communities, the Skirball focuses on using the arts and cultural history to engage people with one another and the larger community, and to inspire them to make a difference in the world.

Reporting to the Director of Education , the Associate Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of innovative educational programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12, teachers, teens, and families. The Associate Director supervises managers of education program areas and works closely with the Museum, External Affairs, Public Programs, and Operations staff to ensure program success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Oversees the planning of new and revised experiential programs for students, teachers, teens, and families; works with managers to develop curricula and other materials for new educational programs; reviews, edits and approves curricula; ensures educational offerings meet content and audience goals.

- May directly supervise the Head of School and Teacher Programs, Head of Family Programs, and/or Noah’s Ark Gallery Manager; undertakes all related management responsibilities, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress; performance reviews, compliance with institutional policies, providing in-service training and professional development opportunities as needed.

- Participates in determining future directions for specific programs as well as the Education Department as a whole.

- Administers and tracks Education Department budget. Ensures expenditures comply with approved budget. Develops annual budget with Director of Education and managers.

- Supervises the evaluation of existing and proposed programs; interprets data and proposes changes to curricula as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of professional experience in museum education or closely related arena with demonstrated skill, leadership, and entrepreneurial outlook developing and managing successful educational programs in a non-traditional setting.

- Excellent management and supervisory skills; experience developing and managing budgets where resources are limited.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven success in developing productive relationships across an organization and across the field; and demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds.

- Excellent written communication skills, including strong editing skills.

- Willingness to assist where needed, accept and support change, and adapt to individual differences when interacting with team members.

- Knowledge of Jewish culture and history desirable.

Community Programs Supervisor - CA Science Center

The Community Programs Supervisor is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising youth participating in two different Teen Intern Programs. Other responsibilities includes: teaching science content, delivering programs, mentoring and providing support in workforce preparedness skills to youth participants.

Major Job Responsibilities:

* Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and schedules teens in the Intern Programs.
* Delivers training on science content for Ecosystems and other galleries.
* Delivers programming in educational areas of the Science Center.
* Assists in the development and delivery of trainings on informal education, workforce preparedness, and communication skills.
* Participates in the programs' growth and interaction with other Science Center entities.
* Assists in the tracking and management of program budgets.
* Monitors, purchases, and organizes program supplies.
* Participates in long-range strategic planning for department programs.
* Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in marine biology, education, or related field.
* 1+ year’s experience teaching in a formal setting or working with youth in a community-based organization or informal education institution.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience working with diverse audiences.
* Experience with curriculum development in an informal setting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer/Internet skills.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and some holidays.

Salary: $15.00 per hour plus excellent benefits
