Assistant Curator of Education, LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes

LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes seeks an Assistant Curator of Education to assist in all aspects of the work of the Museum’s education division. The Assistant Curator of Education will serve as the primary assistant to the Curator of Education for all education programming that explores Mexican and Mexican American art, history and culture. Under supervision, the Assistant Curator of Education will help to create, plan, implement and evaluate all of the educational programs for the cultural center that may include: workshops, courses, festivals, seminars for schools, educators, adults and families. He/she will assist in developing education curricula that reflect California state standards. The successful candidate will also assist in developing and administering event logistics, work orders for education events and perform other related duties as assigned.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Latino Studies, Visual Arts, History, Liberal Arts or related field required; 2-3 years experience in planning and organizing educational programs with experience and evidence of facilitating student discussions and strong touring skills also required. An interest in Mexico and Mexican American art, history and culture as well as fluency in Spanish highly desired. Demonstrate evidence of knowledge of museum education models. Must have excellent communication and coordination skills.
